Steve Shaver
Steve Shaver is the president of Mountain V. He and his son, Mike Shaver, founded Mountain V in March 1994. Steve is a native West Virginian and has over 35 years experience in oil and gas operations in the Appalachian Basin. He began his career as a logging trainee with Lane Wells and proceeded in this line of work with Basin Surveys as a logging engineer. He became part of a drilling managerial team with Pacific State Oil and Gas(1977-1978).
He continued to work in the Appalachian basin with other companies and became Vice-President of Operations for Eastern American Energy, Inc. In 1994 he started Mountain V with Mike Shaver to acquire and develop oil and gas reserves in the basin with particular emphasis in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He is instrumental in the growth of Mountain V through five strategic acquisitions and several smaller well purchases. He and Mike continue to lead the growth of Mountain V through aggressive acquisition and drilling programs.
Mike Shaver
Mike Shaver is the Vice-President of Mountain V. Prior to assisting his father in the founding of Mountain V in 1994, Mike had been active since 1985 in the oil and gas industry in the basin. From 1985 to 1992 Mike performed duties for Eastern American Energy in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. During this time Mike also attended college studying Petroleum Engineering. Mike broadened his practical knowledge of the
Appalachian basin through his employment with other independent
producers.
Mike currently oversees all field operations for Mountain V including permitting, drill site preparation, drilling and completion operations, and pipeline construction. He is responsible for finding, evaluating and integrating all acquisitions into the corporate long-range plans. He is also instrumental in the engineering evaluations necessary for bank financing and acquisitions. He currently oversees 18 employees and outside contractors. The Small Business Administration named him Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the State of West Virginia in 2000.
